Crispy Garlic Ginger Tofu with Cilantro Lime Sauce

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup avocado oil
  • 1, 14 oz block extra firm tofu, pressed, drained, and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 inch piece ginger, thinly sliced
  • 3 large cloves garlic, thinly slicedCilantro Lime Sauce
  • ½ bunch cilantro, leaves and some stems
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp lime juice, about 1 lime
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce
  • ¼ tsp salt, or to taste

Direction

  1. Add all ingredients for the cilantro lime sauce to a blender and blend on high speed untilingredients are mostly combined but some chunks of cilantro remain, about 10 seconds.
  2. Heat a medium skillet over medium high heat and add the oil. When the oil is hot, addsome of the pressed tofu cubes to the skillet. Working in batches, fry the tofu until goldenbrown on each side, about 10 minutes total. Place tofu on a serving dish.
  3. Reduce the heat to low. To the oil, add the thinly sliced ginger and garlic. Carefully frythe ginger and garlic on the low heat, stirring and flipping the pieces often, until lightlygolden but not too brown, about 3 minutes. Carefully remove from the oil.
  4. Pile the fried garlic and ginger on top of the fried tofu and serve with the cilantro limesauce to dip the tofu in.
